The eight couture offerings in the Biophilic Collection are named after essential oil plants with designs that were extracted from nature.
Inspired by the Japanese tie-dye technique of Shibori, Ajowan plays with crude fibres to achieve an imitation of ink and colour. Dark loops suggest the ties used to knot the fabric, while light, shallow silk evokes spots unsaturated by pigment. A diagonal line cuts across the carpet creating a mirror effect, a dark and light binary.
