Tai Ping presents the Nakashima Edition for the first time in Paris
A firmly established heritage brand, Tai Ping boasts a long history of collaborating with the world’s most visionary designers. For the first time in Europe next January, it unveils one of the most exceptional examples—the Nakashima Edition—in Paris as part of Maison&Objet’s In the City circuit.
The origins of the Edition date back to 1959 when one of the 20th-century’s most iconic furniture makers, George Nakashima, developed two rug designs for Tai Ping’s American subsidiary, Edward Fields.
From January 15–25, the Tai Ping showroom on Paris’s Place des Victoires will play host to Ode à la Nature, an exhibition that brings together a tapestry and eight rugs with sketches and a selection of vintage Nakashima furniture.
The set design has been entrusted to Paris-based decorator-scenographer, Emilie Bonaventure, for whom Nakashima corresponds perfectly to the current zeitgeist: “His preoccupations were very much those of today—sincerity, simplicity and a respect for the natural environment.”
