Ristorante Quadri is a love letter to the city of Venice. Located in a space originally occupied by Serenissima Republic officials, the restaurant opened to the public in 1844. The Alajmo family assumed ownership in 2011, bringing international recognition and a Michelin star to the storied establishment.

In 2018, Philippe Starck was tasked with restoring the splendour of the venue. The goal of the renovation was to preserve artistic heritage while creating a new legacy by amplifying existing wonders.

Philippe and Ara Starck worked with Tai Ping to design several bespoke hand-tufted carpets and rugs. The floor coverings lend a painted, dreamlike quality to the restaurant. Their aquatic, undulating movement calls to mind acqua alta the high tides that cause temporary flooding in the floating city and the water marks they leave in their wake.
